The 80s

Yesterday, Cj asked me if I was alive in the 80s. I told him I was, he asked in wonder, "What was it like?"

So I explained, "Well, the 80s were more colorful, TV was better (we had the Cosby Show, ALF, Punky Brewster, A-Team), movies were better, music was better, girls had big beautiful hair, and lots of boys had spiky hair that stuck up from the top of their heads. Girls wore these big things that were kinda like socks but didn't go down over their feet called 'leg warmers' and boys wore 'parachute pants'.

Cj asked, "Why did boys wear parachutes, were they jumping out of planes all the time?"

I explained, "No, they were just big, shiny pants that I guess were supposed to be made of parachute material."

Cj looked at Jerrid, "Daddy, did you wear parachutes?"

Jerrid shook his head in embarrassment, "Yes, yes, I did," he replied with a red face.

Cj said, "So, is in the 80s there was good music, good movies, boys jumped, and girls were warm and had big hair."

Then Cj looked up as if imagining it, with wonder in his eyes, "It must have been wonderful, I wish I could have seen it!"

I patted him on the shoulder, "I know, Cj, it was, it was. And you can see it; I have Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and ALF on DVD."
