Grandma Bobo's Biscuits

Tonight I made Grandma’s Biscuit recipe for dinner. Whenever, I make that recipe my mind just floods with wonderful memories of times with my Grandma. There is no one, absolutely no one in the world like Grandma, she is so much fun.

I was thinking about the time that Grandma came over and was going to teach me to make her biscuits. We had to go to the grocery and get buttermilk and lard. We kept looking all over the store and could not find that buttermilk at all. We even tried splitting up. My friend told me later that she saw Grandma in the store. She said Grandma came running down the aisle, waving a bowl of lard over her head in triumph, and she was proclaiming, “I found the lard! I found the la-rd!!” Apparently it was quite the sight.

Diana said that she remembers making biscuits with Grandma when she was little and that Grandma always let her make her own small biscuits. Now Diana already can make Grandma’s Biscuits herself.

I remember when I was little that Grandma used to always give us one small bite of the dough. I also remember she used to let us go out in the backyard and pick fresh strawberries while she baked the biscuits. When we got done we had fresh strawberries on top of warm biscuits. Oh that was SO good!

I am so thankful for Grandma, I love her so much, and not just because she is the most amazing cook in the world. Not even because she taught me so much about cooking. Just because she’s Grandma, and she’s so special, she is a blessing.
