"The Greatest of These"...

I Corinthians 13: 13 talks about 3 things- faith, hope, and love. It says that "the greatest of these is love". I was always taught that great things only come with lots of hard work. When I say this I think of my Grandpa and how hard he always worked. And if I remember correctly, he was retired for most of my childhood, but he was always working and telling me how important it was to work. And I could see the blessings all around in Grandpa's life, I believe that it was because of his hard work. Anyway, that leads me to the conclusion that love is a lot of hard work.

All around me I see people seeking love. Looking for a relationship, as if finding that special someone, their soulmate, who was meant to be will give them complete happiness because then they will be loved. Or having children because then the child will love them. Well, this kind of pursuit will never work because that is not what love is! Love is not about how someone will make you feel. Love is not about what someone will do for you. Love is about what YOU CAN DO FOR SOMEONE ELSE. I mean the greatest love ever shown was Jesus and He gave all, He gave up His life, He took our sins and paid the price! The ultimate act of unselfishness! Our example of what love truly is!

So, please share, who in your life do you think is a loving example? And why?
